ABOUT De VISSER GRAY

De Visser Gray LLP (‘DVG’), known prior to June 1, 2001 as De Visser & Company, was founded by former managing partner Peter de Visser in October, 1987.  Our firm was originally a partnership of Chartered Accountants.  With the consolidation of the accounting profession in Canada as Chartered Professional Accountants (‘CPA’), accomplished largely in the 2014-2015 period, the firm now utilizes only the CPA designation in its name.

Our firm currently has five incorporated partners, the principals of which are: James (Jim) Gray (who joined the firm in 1997 as a staff CA and became a partner in 2001), Brad Waddell (who joined as a partner in 2006), Cameron Dong (who joined as a partner in 2009), James Roxburgh (who joined as a partner in 2022) and William Nichols (who also joined as a partner in 2022).

Retired partners:

Peter de Visser - 1987 - 2011.   Peter was the former managing partner of the firm prior to his retirement.

Ross Nichol - late 1980’s - 2017.   Ross independently serviced a separate block of private companies and individual tax clients but technically operated under the firm’s practice license; his clients were largely transitioned to DVG upon Ross’s retirement.

Keith Macdonald - 2012 - 2021.  Keith continues to provide professional services to DVG in a transitionary role.
We have a staff of approximately 12 professional and supporting personnel, including students enrolled in the CPA program. The firm has expertise in the provision of assurance and related compliance services for junior public companies, with a specific emphasis on the junior mining sector. Our downtown location is ideally suited to servicing these clients, with the vast majority having their offices within easy walking distance of us. We operate our partnership in an organized, integrated manner, with all partners actively and cooperatively involved, along with our staff, in client work. Our approach to business, generally in line with that of our clients, is informal, straight-up and hands-on.

As a firm, our core values are authenticity, loyalty and professionalism. Professionalism is the antidote to managing the inherent conflicts possible between the partners’ roles as both independent service providers and as private operators of their own business. We are proud of the work we do for smaller organizations of various kinds, and individuals, and feel no contradiction between this and our responsibility, as assurance service providers, to protect the broader public interests that are generally applicable to non-private entities.
